Abstract: This work addresses the relationship between art and society, this topic has been investigated throughout the history of art on several occasions, especially from Marxism and then also by the sociology of art specifically. This link has been raised many times in terms of "conflictivity", to a greater extent since the 19th century, with the first avant-garde and modern art. Even today, works continue to emerge that discuss the link between contemporary art and the public, where the former is presented as more conflictive than other artistic periods. For this reason, it is pertinent to offer an approach to mediation as a strategy to strengthen the link and shorten the gap between contemporary art and society. The objective of this work is to explore and question mediation practices from the educational turn, the social turn, and the performative turn. For this, an extensive investigation is carried out on the three selected lines and their characteristic proposals. At the same time, through some examples of each twist, its effectiveness once put into practice is explored, observing its strengths and weaknesses.
